So much to see – you’ll be amazed at what you find. Every month is an opportunity to talk to artists about their work, how they make it, what inspires them. It will take you more than one visit to check out all the art you’ll find at Western Avenue Studios and Lofts.- Open Studios and Lofts happen from 12 until 5pm.
- There is free parking on site. If the parking lot if full there is a free shuttle bus that runs to off site parking 3 minutes away.
- There are docents at the entry doors to help you get started on your visit – make sure to chat with them if you have any questions.
- The Studios building is handicap accessible with an elevator for floors 2 – 5 and a ramp from floor 2 down to 1. There are handicap accessible restrooms on each floor.
Directions
By Car: From the Lowell Connector, take the Thorndike Street exit. After the third set of lights take the ramp on the right. At the second set of lights at the top of the ramp, turn left onto Middlesex Street. Middlesex Street bears to the right just after the Boys and Girls Club. Follow to first set of lights which is School Street. Turn right on School Street – you will be on the bridge over the canal – and at the crest of the hill turn right onto Western Avenue. Western Avenue Studios is the large, red brick building complex at the end of the street on the right.
By Train: Lowell is serviced by the MBTA Commuter Rail Lowell Line which
runs to North Station in Boston. Western Avenue is approximately a 15 minute walk from the Gallagher Terminal. The LRTA Route 17 Bus will get you closer up Middlesex Street – get off at School Street.
